Description

120 Functional reading task cards with community signs vocabulary. Promotes independence for life skills special education or English language learners, and a great age appropriate & engaging activity for independent work stations or centers. Community access & functional reading for special education students.

Unlike most community signs resources, this resource is geared towards students that may not drive, and instead travel around the community by walking, using public transportation, carpooling… and so on. A majority of signs included in this resource are road signs, but only those that would be important for non-drivers to know for safety and getting to and from places.

This comes with:

  • Uppercase and lowercase version
  • 60 task cards (per version)
  • 6 sets of labels (with visual instructions) to put on the inside of a task box
  • Easy prep – Print, laminate, cut & Velcro
  • Student will match the word to the picture

This resource has been extremely beneficial. I teach students with moderate to severe disabilities who are on a certificate of completion for high school. This resource was helpful in establishing a routine for my students. Students remained engaged and enjoyed many of the activities. The consistency of the warm-ups allow for me to introduce students to working together appropriately and seeking help and support from peers not just teachers. The differentiated levels help save time and support students varying levels. Students remain engaged and it quickly hits on different life skills reviews.
